Will's last visit to the Dr. last Wednesday

Will feeling much better @ the Dr. on Wednesday ☺watching one of his favorite movies he calls Yankee aka Everyone's Hero!

Will not feeling too great Friday night. He refused to sit on their bed, unless forced. Thank goodness we had Yankee with us ☺!

I must say again.... What a horrible mean virus!!!! YIKES!!! Did it ever give us a scare. He had actually fallen the Sunday before & busted his chin & bit through his lip to his chin. Blood was everywhere & I immediately thought I should take him to the ER. I decided he was o.k. & did not take him. He was aggitated, irritable, & just acted like he did not feel good for the entire week. When his wounds began to heal & he seemed to be feeling worse, I started to worry a little. When he complained of his back, I thought he may have hurt it when he fell. I am not sure when the virus actually began. Anyway.... I have already blogged what happened after that!. Tuesday afternoon we received the great news that all of his bloodwork was looking good. We returned Wednesday just to check him out again, & they were still a little concerned because he was still complaining of his back hurting. I would ask him if he was all better now & his would respond "Yes, but..Not my back" They tested his urine for the 3rd time & once again it came back looking fine. The Dr. felt like the virus must have just attacked his muscles & settled in his back, causing him all of that back pain. He did not have a sniffle, cough, sore throat or any other symptom except the fever & back pain. The rash did not appear until Sunday in the ER.

I asked her if it was common for your WBC & platelets to drop so low with a virus. She said it is probaby more common than we realize because they do not do bloodwork on everyone they suspect has a virus. We are just glad it is over!!! Charlie & Lucy both managed to have wondeful birthdays in the middle of all our worry, thanks to the help of fantastic friends & teachers! I don't think Charlie & Lucy knew how scared we were, until our scare was over! ☺
Praise God for Everything! That will be my next post! ☺

☺☺Good News! Good News! Good News!!!! ☺☺☺

What a horrible horrible virus to scare us sooo bad. You should see my house & my laundry... It is over flowing out the door. I could not even focus to do anything but wander around in circles when we were not at the doctor. I just got off the phone with Dr. Stanley & his counts have all come up! Normal WBC = 6,000 or above his original were @ 2,010 then up to 3,000 on Sunday. Today they are 5700☺☺! His platelets were in the 90,000 range both days & normal is 120,000 or above. His are 112,000 today!!!! Yea!!! Not a fun week, but sooo happy today!
So thank ful for all of our friends who prayed & sat with us & helped so Charlie & Lucy could have successful birthdays despite all of our worry & distraction! Thank you all for your prayers! We could feel them & they were answered! They are still a little concerned he is complaining about his back & want to see him again tomorrow, but we could not be happier about all of the counts coming up!!! We love everybody!!! Praise God Praise God Praise God!!!!

Still not sure, but encouraged.

We went back to the pediatician yesterday. They felt like the rash looked more like this could possibly be a virus ☺. The ER Dr. on Sunday thought some of the rash looked "like a good rash" & part of it looked like the rash that indicates the platelets are getting lower. My pediatricain DID NOT think it looked like the platelets were getting lower so that is wonderful! She is still puzzled by his back pain. She sent us back to Wolfsons to repeat the blood work so she can compare all three. She is slightly concerned he may have some inflamation in his bones. I asked her when we could rule out Leukemia & I guess we still have to wait. If all the counts have gone up then we can stop this worry & assume he has had some mystery virus. If they have not then they would need to do a bone marrow test to know for sure if it is Leukemia. She also felt like he may need a bone scan to determine if he has any inflamation. She does not want to do any of this until we see what his counts have done, again...If they are up we may not need to do any of this. He was pretty cranky & miserable yesterday until about 4:00. He actually perked up a little, was playful & seemed to have a good appetitie for the first time in a week or so. I feel very encouraged about all that. I thought I would hear from the Dr. last night, but she did not call. I assume she received the results from yesterdays labs. I know they ordered some further bloodwork from Sundays batch, that take a little while to get back. Maybe she is waiting to get it all in. I basically feel like we don't have any clear answers yet. I still can't help but worry, but I am encouraged by the looks of the rash & by his behavior & appetite last night. Thank you so much for your continued prayers. I will blog as soon as we hear something!

I think Charlie had a pretty good birthday considering how crazy it was. It helped that his expectations were very low. He was so appreciative of every action that honored his birthday. I am pretty sure he thought it was going to be overlooked. He and Lucy are both clearly aware that Will has been pretty sick & has been dominating our time & attention. They are worried about him, but we have not told them the possibilities we were given. Charlie is very familiar with Leukemia because of Preston and we think it is best not to mention it since we really have no idea. Annie is aware of the possiblities they have given us. I hope to have some good news later today! ☺
"Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension. will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus" Phil. 4:6-7
I actually typed this up big & taped it to our bathroom mirror recently for Kevin in regards to all he was going through with his job etc... It is still up there & I am now taking comfort. Amazing how the same scripture can give us comfort in so many different situations!

Naked

Will is still miserable this morning & still complaining his back hurts. He is acting like he is coming out of his skin & refusing clothes at the moment. Wish me luck as I try & figure out how to buy & then transfer birthday goodies from the grocery store to the school for Charlie with my little Naked boy. I can't imagine the car seat is going to feel too good on his little naked self. Praying for a virus & praying he will decide clothes are a good idea today!
Happy 10th Birthday to Charlie Boy!

A little encouragement!

Will's White Blood Cell count was up today. Still not in the normal range, but it is great that it was up. His platelets stayed the same. He is still feeling pretty miserable. Very tired... Still complaining of back pain & now stomach. He broke out into a rash right before our eyes as we were waiting in the ER today. He is off the charts irritable & moody. I stepped out to get him something while we were in the ER & left him in Mom's care. WHen I returned she was standing outside the room peeking through the crack in the door making sure he did not fall out of the bed etc... but not letting him see her. I said "Mom did he kick you out of the room?" She nodded yes! We head back to the Dr. in the morning for another look. They seem a little more hopefully it might not be Leukemia but have not ruled it out. They are a little puzzled and so are we. I will update when know something!

Worried & Busy today!

Feeling a little sick to my stomach this morning & have a pounding pounding headache. I need to get Will up & get him a bath so we can head back to Wolfsons to repeat his bloodwork. I am anxious but procrastinating at the same time. If all went according to my plan, I would be getting ready for church. Excited about teaching Lucy's Sunday school class & both of us meeting new friends. SHe was 7 on the 9th & we have her birthday party planned for this afternoon 4:00 at the pool. It was closed last Sunday so we chose today. Tomorrow is Charlie's actual birthday #10. Annie's first FCMS basketball game of 2010 is tomorrow 5"30 @ Murray deep in St. Augustine. Lucy has openhouse @6:00p.m. & there is a room mom meeting after. I have not bought Charlie's birthday present yet. Charlie has Baseball practice & Annie has softball practice. Seems like there were even a few other things on our calendar for tomorrow. It was already overflowing, but we can always make it work. The Dr.s said we need to return to Wolfson's tomorrow morning as well to repeat the labs for a 3rd time. Dr. McClelland said she would call me today when she gets the results. I wonder if I will hear before Lucy's party? Should I can the party or forge on? What if they make Will stay at the hospital? What if his counts are still down? What if they are normal & he just has a virus. Then we will be celebrating Lucy's birthday, Will's health, Annie's new team, Charlie's birthday & Kevin's new job!!!! Yes... Kevin will be returning to Citibank on the 4th of October. His current situation has been very challenging & difficult in many ways, work load, benefits, time. It was a rough summer for him & the kids missing him. He was offered a position with Citi on Friday. They will even bridge his time. He was thrilled, excited & relieved etc... etc... We had been waiting & hoping this would happen. Unfortunately our excitement was short lived when we felt like we needed to take Will to the ER. I always worry when my children complain of something hurting for no apparent reason, mainly because that is how I remember our friend Preston's symptoms starting. When Lucy complained of her hip the summer of 2008, I worried. She had no other symptoms other than being lethargic. It was her kidneys. It was scary, but they fixed it. Will has been complaining that his back hurt. He has had a fever. HIgh for a minute but generally it has not been too high. I thought this sounds like maybe his kidneys . The pediatrician sent us to the ER Friday night. 8 hours later they told me his white blood cell count was low & his platlet count was low. The reason for this is he either has a virus or Leukemia. Kevin cannot seem to understand how we can only have 2 choices. Why are there no other possibilies in between? I called my friend Kara who is a nurse at Wolfsons to see if she could give us more insight. She said there are no other possibilities. It is either a virus or Leukemia. I better go wake Will up now, head back to Wolfsons & continue to pray for a virus. Hopefully our next post will be great news & pictures of Lucy's birthday party, but I can't help but be a little worried.
